Jeffery L. Lucas, 63, KCMO, passed away on February 10, 2017. He was born February 17, 1953 in Gary, Indiana to Rudolph Lucas, Sr. and Mary (Jeter) Lucas. He was preceded in death by his father and maternal grandparents. Jeffery was educated at Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana where he first excelled in music. Chicago launched Jeff's career as a professional musician where he played for the Philharmonic Orchestra and was selected to compose and submit songs to the Jackson Five Music Group. His arrangement of 'You Changed' was selected to be on the Jackson's first album. Jeff's musical career gave him the opportunity to travel with several famous singers and groups. Jeffery 'IZCOLD' Lucas was a multitalented musical leader founded several bands that traveled the world with him. Jeff was a member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church for a total of twenty years, where he also played the keyboard and organ. He has been the pianist at Bible Pentecostal Church and Southside Missionary Baptist Church among others. A variety of experiences gave him an appreciation for openness in sharing his talents with his piano students and bands. Jeffery was married to Elaine Monroe-Lucas on June 25th, 1993. He was a father to Terrence E. Monroe. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Elaine Lucas; son, Terrence E. Monroe; mother, Mary Jeter-Lucas; brothers, Rudolph Lucas II, KCMO, Edmond Lucas, Indianapolis, IN, Stephen Lucas, Teaneck, NJ, and Roderick Wesson, McKinney, TX; sisters, Paula Farrell, Mesquite, NV, Rhonda Chisom, Gary, IN, Melaine Lucas, Chicago, IL and Latonya Wesson, McKinney, TX; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Memorial services will be Saturday, February 25, 12:00 p.m. at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
