Obituary

Jimmy Allen Foy, 56, was born on April 3, 1961 in Joplin, Missouri to Will Foy, Sr. and Laura Ann Barksdale Foy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ethel Thomas brothers-in-law, Bryant (Grady) Thomas and Vern Byers.

Jimmy was educated in the public schools of Joplin, Missouri. After graduation, Jimmy enlisted and served in the United States Air Force. He was married to Dawn Annette Davis in Kansas City, Missouri on August 8, 1987. Jimmy and Dawn were blessed to adopt a daughter, Maya Laurette Foy, shortly after her birth on August 1, 1997.

Jimmy worked for Stanley Hardware prior to beginning a 23 year career in the Grandview C4 School District, where his wife was employed as a teacher. He began his Grandview C4 career as a custodian at Grandview Senior High School. He continued working in positions as Head Custodian of Meadowmere Elementary School and Grandview High School. He then moved into a position in the Maintenance Department overseeing Warehouse Operations. Most recently, he was the Director of Maintenance for the District. Jimmy was a member of the National Education Association and an officer in the Grandview Federation of Support Personnel.

After a brief illness, Jimmy departed this life suddenly and unexpectedly on January 1, 2018 at St. Joseph Health Center.

He leaves to cherish their memories of him: his wife, Dawn Foy; daughter, Maya Foy; brother, Will Foy, Jr. (Sheila) of Independence, MO; sisters, Billie Wofford (Dave) and Ruth Knight, both of Joplin, MO; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darrell and Dolores Davis of Belton, MO; brother-in-law, Darrell B. Davis (Claudia) of Kansas City, MO; sisters-in-law, Denise Davis and Dixie Vanessa McHenry (William) both of Kansas City, MO; and a multitude of nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, January 6, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation Friday, January 5, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
