Jacque 'Jock' Powell, 60, passed away on Monday, May 29,2017 at St. Luke's Hospice. Jock was born May 31, 1956 in Williamston, North Carolina to Mrs. Elenora Pitt. He was the eldest of four siblings. Jock received his high school education from Williamston High School, where he was a star football player. After high school, Jock joined the United States Army and was able to travel the world. In 1985, Jock moved his family to Kansas City, Missouri. He was employed with Swift until retiring in 2010. Jock loved the Lord and was readily available with a scripture of encouragement. He was always energetic and was guaranteed to keep a smile on his face and the faces of the people he cared the most for. He was loved by many and will sincerely be missed. Jock leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Bettie Powell; one son Cedric Starks (Ashley) of Stillwater, OK; two daughters, June Hill (Matthew) and Patricia Powell both of Kansas City, MO; his mother Mrs. Elenora Pitt of Goldsboro, NC; brother Julian Pitt (Delois) of Laurel, MD; two sisters, Trudy Smith and Carol Bass (Steve) both of Goldsboro, NC; special aunt, Polly of Goldsboro, NC; three grandchildren, Jachelle Powell, Jamia Hill both of Kansas City, MO and Marcus Starks of Stillwater, OK; a host of nephews, nieces, other family and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, June 2, 11:00 a.m. at Metropolitan Baptist Church, KCKS. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
