Joe Annie Childress passed away unexpectedly at her home in Grandview, Missouri, surrounded by loved ones on Friday, November 26, 2016 at the age of 72. Joe Annie was born on August 19, 1944 in Phoenix, Arizona to Pearlie Bee Williams and Joe Kemp. She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearlie Bee Williams of Wyandotte County, Kansas; great grandmother, Annie Beard of Tulsa, Oklahoma and brother, Freddy Beard of Tulsa, Oklahoma. After moving to Kansas City, Missouri she began working for Tastee Bakery from which she retired in 1994. Over the span of many decades, she welcomed five children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren into her home and heart. Well respected and very loved, she is remembered as a fiery, strong matriarch who led her family throughout the years with tough love with a gentle heart. Her strength and kind spirit will reside within us all forever. Joe Annie is survived by her children: four sons, sons, Robert 'Bobby' Pierson, Richard 'Ricky' Pierson (Gayle), Albert Pierson, Curtis Childress and one daughter, Karen Collins (Zebedee) all of Kansas City, MO. She will be cherished in precious memory by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kendale Childress, Fahteema (Clark) Parrish, Rayjah Collins, Mecca Collins, Chimeen Collins, Medina Collins, Raishaun Pierson, Robert Pierson, Jr., Rockeem Jr., Rebekka Pierson, Romeo Pierson, Richard Pierson, Jr., RahSheeba Pierson, Rashaan Pierson, Rikaah Pierson, Rahjaan Pierson, Dominikk Pierson, Albert Pierson, Jr., Tye Leigh, Curyeah Childress and many others. Funeral services will be Friday, December 2, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel.
