Obituary

John Lee Hardman, 80, was born May 2, 1937 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Henry Hardman and Virginia Potter. He was raised by his grandmother, Paige Patterson-Potter who instilled mannerisms and values that would prepare him for adulthood.

John confessed his love for Christ at an early age. He was educated in the Bossier-Parrish School System and graduated from Princeton High School in 1956. John played football as a linebacker and enjoyed watching professional football.

At 16 years of age, his uncle introduced him to the world of construction which eventually led him to establish his own company, Hardman Construction. John had a great passion for the art of construction and was willing to teach anyone. This profession opened many doors which allowed him to work on the Royals and Arrowhead Stadium, and with local celebrities that extended to California and Las Vegas, Nevada. His work is still intact to this day. John was also a member of the Local 518 Cement, Mason and Plaster, Masonic Lodge of KCMO and a volunteer Deputy Sheriff.

John was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at KU Medical Center. He is in the presence of the Lord whom he loved dearly.

John was preceded in death by his father, mother and grandmother; wife, Sylvia Marie Hardman; brother, Billy Hardman and sister, Lizzie Hardman-Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory: four children, Marie Katz of Las Vegas, NV, Shirley Hardman of Lee's Summit, MO, Jeffrey Hardman and Stacey Hardman both of KCMO; four siblings, Betty Lewis of Shreveport, LA, Charlie Hardman,Grady Hardman and Delois Hardman-Bell all of Haughton, LA; 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends whom he loved.
