Obituary

John Watson was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, on September 14, 1944, to Jesse Watson Sr. and Mary Gates Watson. He later moved to Kansas City, where he attended the Kansas City Public School District and built a life centered on family, love, and hard work.

John worked in fiberglass for fifteen years before retiring from Butler Steel Factory. He was known as a dependable and diligent worker who took great pride in providing for his family. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to the people he loved.

John was known for his wonderful sense of humor and for being the kind of man who could bring laughter into any room. He enjoyed watching movies, especially westerns and action films, and he could spend hours relaxing with a good film. He loved soul food and appreciated a home cooked meal shared with family. Fathers Day was his favorite holiday, and he always looked forward to the celebration and appreciation that came with it.

John was a true homebody who enjoyed the comfort and peace of his own space. Most importantly, he could always be found with his twin. Their bond was unbreakable, and they were truly inseparable throughout his life.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory Christopher Thompson, Eric Phillips, Denise Phillips, Lisa Bland, and John Watson Jr. He deeply loved his children and adored his grandchildren and great granddaughter. His family was the joy of his life, and he found peace in seeing them grow, succeed, and carry forward the Watson legacy.

John leaves behind his siblings, Jesse Watson of Atlanta, William Watson of Arkansas, Choice Watson of Kansas City, James Watson of Kansas City, and Bernice Watson Harbour of Raymore. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Watson and both parents Jesse and Mary. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

John Watson will be remembered for his love, his laughter, and his unwavering dedication to his family. His life was full, his heart was generous, and his presence will be missed beyond measure.
