I was born John William Franklin Jr. to the union of John W. Franklin Sr. and Faye Ann Franklin on November 3, 1962, in Monticello, Arkansas. I later converted to Islam and changed my name to Sa'id Abdul-Hakim.

My father preceded me in death. I moved from Arkansas to Kansas City, Missouri as a little boy. I attended grade school and high schools in Kansas City, and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.

I was able to see the world as a Marine, but my true love was when I was a Barber at Seven Oaks. I spent many years as a top-notch barber with A-list clientele. I ensured that my customers left me crispy and clean each time. I decided to try other things and ended my years as a truck driver.

I leave to cherish my memory: My loving and devoted mother Faye Franklin who helped build me into the man I was. My children, my sisters Romanda Franklin (Avia Ramsey and Autumn Purnell), Carolyn Franklin (Jamel, Keuana, and Charlie), Bama Franklin (Ebony Brewer, Rodney Daniels Jr.) and my brother Cedric Franklin.
