Obituary

Jojuana " Joi " McLemore was born to the union of Willie and Mamie Seals in Selma, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her son: Demetrius Holmes, husband: Paul McLemore, Brothers: Leslie Seals, Bernard Seals, Johnny Seals, and sister: Claudia Seals and both her parents.

Jojuana had an independent spirit. She was educated through the Selma School System and graduated early which placed her in the same graduating class as her older sister Claudia. She continued to be a lifelong learner through business, life insurance, sales and pharmaceutical courses. She took advantage of every learning opportunity presented to her. She was a member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ under Pastor Earl Abel before relocating to Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church and then finally to Concord Fortress of Hope under Pastor Ronald Lindsay and in her later years she began to support all churches and visited frequently around the city to different houses of worship but she stayed steadfast in her relationship with Jesus Christ.

She was married to Willie Holmes in March of 1953 and to this union four sprinkles of joy were born; Gregory, Derrick, Kejena, and Demetrius. The union was later dissolved and she united in love with Paul McLemore and she enjoyed life with Paul until the Lord called him home in 1988. She was employed with numerous employers but was blessed to work for the Internal Revenue Agency and retired from the IRS in her later years. In her retirement she still kept herself occupied as a Sales and Collections Clerk with The Kansas City Star. She met Frank Parker who became her life partner and whom she loved dearly.

She was a go-getter, loved to travel, loving, and a kind spirited woman of God. She did what she wanted to do when she wanted to do it. She didn't take no for an answer. She was a fashion nova and her own personal stylist who knew how to make a statement.

She departed this life on January 25th, 2025 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

She leaves to cherish in her memory, sons: Gregory Holmes of St.Louis, MO, Derrick Holmes (Dorene) of St. Louis, MO, daughter:Kejeena Tivis (Morrison) of Kansas City, MO, sister: Hattie Lyles of Detroit, MI, Special Niece: Ree Johnson-Adamolekun of Ontario, CA, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
