Judith
Miller
Nov 19, 1956 — Jun 15, 2024
Judith "Judy" Doretha Miller, 67, was born in Topeka, KS on November 19, 1956 to Rev. D.D. and Doris
Miller. As a young girl, Judy accepted her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at New Jerusalem Missionary
Baptist Church. Judy attended Topeka and Wichita Public Schools; she graduated from Wichita High
School North in 1974. Judy earned her Bachelor's Degree from Phoenix University. She met and married
Patrick Wotruba, Sr. To that union, Damika and Patrick, Jr. were born. Judy later married Donzell Buffet,
to whom LaShad, Heather, and Ryan were born.
Judy enjoyed crafting, decorating, gardening, fishing with her grandkids, sons, and son-in-law, and
playing board games with Ebony Monopoly being her favorite. She also had fun playing spades and biz
wiz (bid whist), with her partner in crime, Cheating Peggy. Judy absolutely loved karaoke with family
and friends, where she would belt out her favorite songs "Superwoman", "Tennessee Whiskey", and
"Leave the Door Open." However, true to her Baptist roots, and as a prayer warrior, Judy loved singing
praise and worship songs with the musical group, For His Glory. Judy passed down many of her gifts and
talents such as baking, sewing, and crocheting to her kids and grandkids.
In May of 2020, Judy founded The Miller Group, LLC, in which she joined and organized several protests
throughout the Kansas City Area. Quickly becoming known as "Mama Judy," she fought relentlessly for
justice and equality. She also helped bring awareness to rename "Negro Creek."
Judy was the number one supporter of all of her grandkids in their sports, activities, rap career, and all of
their endeavors. Judy made sure she made her grandkids' birthday cakes and "sweet mashed potato pies",
made exclusively for Amaris.
Employed with several companies during her career, Judy retired from U.S. Bank where she dedicated
many years of hard work and gained special, close friends.
In 2021, Judy fell ill and was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer. After an intense, well-done, good and
faithful service, battle of three years, Judy entered into the joy of her Lord at 8:59am, on Saturday, June
15, 2024. She was greeted by her father, Pastor Rev. D.D. Miller, mother, Doris, brother, Richard Miller, and sister, Charlotte King.
Judy's legacy and lineage is continued by her children, Damika (William) Wotruba-Carter, Patrick
(Vaquandra) Wotruba, Jr., LaShad (Jackie) Buffett, Heather Buffett, and Ryan (Brittany) Buffett;
grandchildren, Angel, Anthony, Chris, Keaura, Cameron, Rachel, La'Naya, Josiah, Jada, Shekinah,
Isaiah, Jon'Nae, Malachi, Jeremiah, Deliah, Ariel, Michael, Amaris, Zachariah, Lorenzo, Zyaire, and
great-grandchild Armoni; brother, Anthony (Rebekah) Miller, Sr., sister, Louise Miller, sister/cousin
Peggy Alexander; aunt, Anita Green, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
