June O.
Townsel-Pouncil
Oct 28, 1952 — Jan 7, 2017
No one knows where it really began. The windows of heaven opened up and gave birth to a love child, a joy baby, a momma of all momma's. Her name was June Townsel. Born on October 28, 1952, she was one of ten children. Her parents, William 'Big Daddy' Townsel and Helen 'Hilda' Epton preceded her in death. She was educated in the Bonner Springs School System, graduating in 1970. She went on to further her education at Kansas City Community College, graduating with a degree in the Arts. She enjoyed working for the State of Kansas for over two decades, from which she retired when her health began to fail. June accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in her early 20's and served Him faithfully until the Lord called her home. She lived the life she talked about and would quote the Word of God to support what she said. Truly she was devoted the God first, her family and church family. June was united in holy matrimony to Derek Pouncil. She enjoyed the outdoors, taking cruises and spending time with her family. June departed this earthly life on January 7, 2017. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Estella Townsel; brothers, Zeb 'Charles' Townsel and Stevey Townsel. Those left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy are her spouse, Derek Pouncil; children, Marvin Townsel, Martin Townsel (Kay), Yvette Townsel and Yvonne Townsel; brothers, William Townsel, Bennie Townsel (Mary) and James 'Kevin' Epton; sisters, Regina Townsel, Denise Townsel and Patricia Epton; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 14, 11:00 a.m. at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ. Interment Bonner Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
