Kaaya D.
Wright
Aug 1, 1978 — Jul 19, 2019
Kaaya Dawnyel Wright, 40, passed away on July 19, 2019. She was born on August 1, 1978 to Larry McLamb and Lynnette W. Carter in Kansas City, Missouri. Her stepfather, Rev. Charles Washington; maternal grandparents, Alton and Alice Wright; maternal great grandparents, George and Mabel Washington; two brothers, Jamah Washington and Larry Jefferson all preceded her in death.
As a lifelong area resident, Kaaya was educated in the Kansas City Missouri Public Schools and attended Southeast High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with Centennial United Methodist Church. She also attended Concord Fortress of Hope with her family.
Kaaya was a wonderful daughter, sister and aunt who dearly loved her family and friends. When Kaaya loved, she loved hard and deep. She was always the one attempting to mend broken fences with family and friends. Kaaya had a special bond and love with her nephews and nieces, and would go to bat for them at any time. She would let it be known not to mess with her family. There was nothing Kaaya was afraid of except for heights! She truly enjoyed special times with her family and was always prepared to give and receive hugs and kisses. She was humorous with a sense of humor that would have you cracking up at the slightest stories. Sunday dinners with family were her favorite pastime. She would always ask, "Momma would you make roast, potatoes, pasta salad, pig ears and chitterlings (lol)". She will always be loved and cherished in our fondest memories. We now say to her, "Rest in Jesus and we will see you in that great getting up morning".
Kaaya is survived by her mother and stepfather, Lynette Carter (Rev. Michael Jr.), father, Larry McLamb (Josie); eight brothers, Charles "Chubby" Washington (Katie), Demond Washington (Lanika), Ryan Jacks (Stephanie), Kevin Porter, Chris Ledox, Adrian Groves, Terry Riley and Derrick Richardson; four sisters, Nashia Washington, Lisa Green (Alexander), Kelly Jones (Monte) and Jennifer Lotechi; grandmother, Shirley Tillolson and step grandmother, Kathryn Carter; special aunt, Gwynette Robinson and a host of other uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services Friday, July 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Concord Fortress of Hope. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on website.
