Obituary

Kathelene Helen Lewis "Kat", 66, was born on September 1, 1952 to Arthur C Lewis and Dorothy Holloway-Lewis in Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in her homegoing by her parents and two brothers, Arthur M. and Troy.

Affectionately known as "Kat", "Kathy" and "Mrs. Kat", she attended school in the Kansas City Missouri School District. She accepted The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. Kat was an entrepreneur who owned and operated a commercial cleaning service as well as a child care facility.

Kat married Evans B. Cooper, Jr. in June of 2000 and raised her family while branching out into the business world. Kat was bubbly, smart, ambitious and determined. She dreamed of being a singer, thus she sang, hummed and belted out her favorite gospel tunes just about every day. Her voice was relaxing and soothing to the soul. She was a super model in her own right with a smile so beautiful and white that her very distinct features made her strikingly beautiful. People tended to always take a second look at her. Kat loved food too, especially sweets, cakes, pies, zoo-zoos and wham-whams. She took great care and put lots of love in her cooking. She really liked watching people enjoy her dishes which made her a great hostess.

Kathelene was also funny. She had a talent of imitating people and it did not matter who or where you were. She became an entertainer of sorts and would definitely have won the BET, Oscar or Entertainer of the year award someday.

Kat was humble during her illness. We never heard her cuss, swear, or complain. She was polite and thankful to all those that helped and aided in her care during her almost 15 year illness. Kathelene departed this life for God's arms at home on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Evans B. Cooper, Jr. of the home; three daughters, Savannah A Roberson of Independence, MO, Aleckus O. Lewis and Evance B. Cooper, both of Kansas City, MO; one stepson, Evans B. Cooper III of Kansas City, MO; three brothers, Archie Lewis and Christian Lewis, both of Oklahoma City, OK, and Robert (Mickey) Lewis of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Essaline P. Scott of Oklahoma City, OK and Lillie B. Boston of Wichita, KS; a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
