In Loving Memory of Katherine "Peach" Brown
Katherine "Peach" Brown was born on June 26, 1953, in Greenville, Mississippi, to her devoted parents John Wesley Bingham and Mary Jane Akins. From an early age, Peach carried a fiery spirit and a heart full of compassion. She was known for her fierce determination, generous soul, and her deep love of cooking—a gift she readily shared with family, friends, and neighbors alike.
After graduating from Paseo High School in Kansas City in 1972, Peach began a life of service through both her work and her faith. She spent her early professional years as a custodian and orderly at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She would go on to serve over 20 years at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, where she rose from clerk to office manager. Yet even in her professional life, Peach remained committed to community. During office renovations, she ensured gently used furniture was donated to families in need—a reflection of her ever-thoughtful heart.
Peach's life was a testimony to her unwavering faith. She was baptized at age 10 at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi. As a teenager, she joined Skylight Missionary Baptist Church, where she began teaching Sunday school. She later continued her ministry at Evangelistic Center International, and in 2016, became a member of Step Out on Faith Worship Center. In 2021, she was ordained by Elder Michael D. Taylor, and recognized not only for her deep knowledge of the Bible but for her gift of teaching and leading Christian education.
In 2020, Peach moved to Kokomo, Indiana to help care for her mother. There, she joined Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church where she continued to serve as an adult Sunday school teacher, intercessory prayer leader, and a faithful student in Tuesday evening Bible study. She was also an active member of the Women's Ministry.
Throughout her life, Peach's ministry extended far beyond the church walls. Her daily devotionals and words of encouragement reached family, friends, and loved ones across the country. Her consistency in love, prayer, and service became a source of strength to many—and her legacy is one of faith in action.
Above all, Peach was a devoted mother and grandmother. In addition to raising her three children—DeWayne, Kathryn, and Larry—she opened her heart and home once again to raise her grandsons, Alonzo and James. Her life was built on love, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to family.
Peach was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, John Holmes and Stanley Jackson; her cherished son, DeWayne Bingham; her parents, John Wesley Bingham and Mary Jane Akins; and her dear brothers, Orlester "Les" Bingham and Benny Earl Bingham.
She leaves behind a powerful legacy and will be deeply missed by her children: Kathryn Williams and Larry Williams Sr.; her grandchildren: Alonzo Coyazo, James Miller, Moneisha Williams, Larron Williams, Larry Williams Jr., Tykeeya Williams, Tamara Williams, Morgan Williams, Larrion Williams, DeAja Williams, and Monell Williams; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved siblings: Johnnie Mae Banks, Geraldine "Jeri" Wigfall (Clint), Gloria Steen Robinson, Larry Wesley Bingham, Eva Belinda Pace, and Kerry Luzell Ellison (Leslie).
Katherine "Peach" Brown lived a life rooted in faith, expressed through service, and overflowing with love. Her voice, her prayers, and her presence will echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
