Katherine Shirley was born on November 29, 1925, to proud parents Clarence and Mary. She lived most of her life in Kansas City, Missouri, and also spent time in California with her father and sister. Katherine is remembered as a God-fearing woman who took care of herself and was consistently kind to others. For the last three decades of her life, she resided at the Life Care Center of Grandview, where the staff became an extension of her family. Katherine reached the age of 99 and witnessed the civil rights movement, segregation, the terms of seventeen Presidents, 108 military conflicts, Pearl Harbor, the first man on the moon, and many other events that shaped the world as we know it today. She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sister, Sheila Johnson of California. We express our gratitude to everyone around the world who assisted in locating Katherine's only known immediate living relative.
