Obituary

On Monday, October 3rd, Kathleen Marie McFarlane-Davis left this earth to join her heavenly father and become one of his honorary angels. In her 71 years of life, the mantra she lived by was, 'Love in action speaks louder than words. Pass it on.' and also, the biblical scripture, 'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.' -Proverbs 3: 5-6 KJV. Kathleen was a woman of pure joy who enjoyed the fine arts. She loved a great gospel choir, fashion show, or classic movie. Kathleen also led a life of servant-leadership to her family, the church, and the Kansas City community. She served the Kansas City community along with her mother, Maxine 'Queen Mother' McFarlane, through the National Action Committee for Social Change Organization. ACSC has produced many community projects such as the Bernard Powell Monument (28th & Brooklyn) and the Community Outreach Food Pantry in partnership with Harvesters of Kansas City. A few of the numerous partnerships include, H.A.T.E. Busters led by Ed Chasteen of William Jewel College, the Annual MLK Service with Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church of Raytown, and the Greater Kansas City Interfaith Council. She served her church community for over 40 years through her service to Barker Temple C.O.G.I.C., as the Administrative Assistant to Bishop E. Harris Moore and her latter years at Barker Memorial Cathedral of Praise C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop John M. Johnson as an advisor to church departments and auxiliaries. Kathleen's service to her family was due to her passion of caring for others. The great legacy of Kathleen Marie McFarlane-Davis will continue through her daughter, Stephanie McFarlane and three grandchildren, Danielle Scott, Samara Smith, and Gabrielle Davis with whom she assisted in raising. Kathleen's legacy also extends through her four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Josiah, Gabriel, and Mace. Kathleen's additional surviving family members include her mother, Maxine 'Queen Mother' McFarlane, whom she cared for in her latter years. In addition, eleven brothers and sisters: Alvin McFarlane Jr., Raymond McFarlane, Wain McFarlane, Gregory McFarlane, Patricia McFarlane, Micah McFarlane, Roland McFarlane, Julian McFarlane, Roslyn McFarlane, and Lloyd McFarlane. Predeceased by: Alvin McFarlane Sr. and Julitta McFarlane. Memorial services will be Saturday, October 8, 1:00 p.m. at Barker Memorial Cathedral of Praise. Family hour will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
