Katie B. Bowers, affectionally known as Grandma and Nanny, age 87, died on Monday, April 20, 2020. She was born on September 25, 1932, in Blytheville, AK. She was the youngest of 7 children. She was proceeded in death by both parents, her son Robert Anthony and 4 grandchildren. Ms. Bowers received her primary education in Blytheville, AK. Ms. Bowers relocated to Kansas City, MO in 1959.

Ms. Bowers began employment with Research Medical Center in 1963 in housekeeping. Ms. Bowers was employed with Research Medical Center for over 29 years. Ms. Bowers was determined, a hard worker and persistent. Ms. Bowers was mentored by Wilda Hubbard, the Director of House Keeping. Ms. Bowers, completed her Associate's Degree at Penn Valley Community College. Ms. Bowers credits most of her knowledge and skillset to Penn Valley Community College and National Environmental Health Association Local Chapter of Continuing Education. Ms. Bowers was promoted to Assistant Director of House Keeping at Research Medical Center.

Ms. Bowers loved her children and grandchildren. In her spare time, Ms. Bowers divided her time between church activities and traveling. Ms. Bowers was the co-leader of the Kitchen Ministry for Good Samaritan Church. Ms. Bowers was a great cook and enjoyed providing homecooked meals for her family and friends. Ms. Bowers loved to travel and often times, you would find her on a highway, plane or train visiting loved ones and creating new adventures.

Ms. Bowers leave to continue her legacy, Willie Gene Anthony Jr (Emma), Charles Anthony, Michael Lamon (Wanda), Dwight Thompson, Debra Melson and Tanya Phillips (Michael). Ms. Bowers had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
