Kenneth R.
Gilmore
Sep 14, 1953 — Jun 1, 2020
Kenneth (Kenny) R. Gilmore was born on September 14, 1954 in San Mateo, California to Kenneth Gilmore and Virginia Dale. He was the third child to his family. His parents, Kenneth Gilmore and Virginia Hawkins; and sibling, Pamela Gilmore-McClain all preceded him in death.
The family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri when he was very young. There he was a student in the Kansas City Public School District. Kenneth made lifelong friends while attending Southeast Junior High School in 1964. Shortly after, he was deployed to the Army in 1970. He served two years in the military before being honorably discharged and retiring. After serving in the Army, Kenny focused on furthering his education. He attended Penn Valley College in the Kansas City Metro Area. After attending Penn Valley, he became involved in multiple business endeavors that led him to start his own corporation, The G-Corporation Trucking Company.
The start of the G-Corporation motivated his Daughter, Danielle, to study and receive her CDL License to become the first driver for the company. Kenny continued to be devoted to educating himself and giving back to his community. In 2012, Kenny and Tom Levin started hosting the Annual Picnic for Alumni and friends for Southeast High school until the unfortunate passing of him. During this time he also went back to school to pursue his Theological Seminary Degree at the Baptist Bible Institute. Earlier this year of 2020, Kenny received a Master of Christian Ministry Degree. After graduating Kenny had plans to become a missionary and travel to Africa to do his spiritual work.
Kenneth accepted Christ in his life at a very young age and always kept a strong spiritual faith. He was a member of the Concord Fortress of Hope Church for many years. Family, God, traveling and comedy was very important to him.
Kenny had aspirations to be a stand up comedian. He used to always say, "I am the funniest person you know!" Kenny could put the biggest smile on anyone's face. His smile, dimples, and personality could light up the darkest room. Kenneth was one of a kind but he was defintiely a "Classic Man" and he will be truly missed. Kenneth passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 in Raytown, Missouri.
He leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Anita Gilmore-Harris; one brother, Joey Dale; one daughter, Danielle R. Gilmore-Fitzpatrick; one son-in law, Jon Fitzpatrick; seven grandchildren; Tajhchel R. Searcy, Ty'zel R. Gilmore, Tyione D. Gilmore, Tynica L. Gilmore, Tyrese G. Cannon-Gilmore, Tynaja J. Fitzpatrick, and Tyneice Fitzpatrick; one neice, Nicole Hale (Darrell); one great-nephew Doren Hale; and a host of relatives and friends he loved unconditionally.
