Kenneth F. Thomas was born on September 2, 1951 to Ira and Patricia Thomas in Kansas City, Missouri. Kenny was affectionately known as "Frank, Franco and Uncle Elmer".
He received his education with the Kansas City, Missouri School District and graduated from Westport High School. He was baptized at an early age and attended Centennial United Methodist Church and Community Sanctified Church of Christ.
He was a very affectionate person who loved his family and would do anything for anyone. Kenny's personality was: amusing, stubborn, loving, understanding and compassionate. He was a pro cooker on the grill and enjoyed cooking ribs for the family gatherings. His hobbies included: dancing (two stepping) and coaching for the Kansas City Chiefs. He also played outfielder for the family's baseball team known as "The K.C. Cardinals".
Kenny was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad for thirty two years as a switchman and retired in 2008.
Preceding him in death were his parents; Ira and Patricia Thomas; maternal grandparents; Charles and Comel Payne; paternal grandparents; Arbra and Helen Thomas; one sister, Yvonne E. Dunlap; two brothers; William R. Taylor and Ralph Thomas.
After the lost of his mother with the blessings of his father he received special love and care from close relatives; Lola Estell, Isaac and Nola Thomas; Charles and Anna Rucker who nurtured him as their own.
In 2000 he married Denise Garmon in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He departed this life on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife; Mrs. Denise Thomas son, Franco Woods; one step son, Stephen Garmon all of Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers, Ira Thomas Sr., (Sheila); Gregory Thomas Sr., (Tina); Ira Dwayne Criss; three sisters, Donna Mitchell; Valerie Piggie and Victoria Carr (Terry) all of Kansas City, Missouri. Four grandchildren; Monte Woods; Montra Woods, Francheska Woods of Kansas City, Missouri and Ahmad McGrone of Chicago, IL.; three special aunts; Opal Saunders, Rosetta Taylor and Lola Estell, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
Funeral services Monday, March 23, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Centennial United Methodist Church. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Service conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
