Kert Leon Jones, 61, was born February 26th, 1959, the youngest in a set of twins (Kemp Lee Jones) to Mary Dean and Fred Sylvester Jones. Kert was born in Rock Island, Illinois but grew up in Davenport, Iowa where he was a member of Progressive Baptist Church, Davenport. In 1977 he graduated from Davenport Central High School and then attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

In May 1987, Kert married Deborah Tensley. To this union a daughter and a son were born and together they shared five children. They moved to Belleview, Illinois where they were members of Second Baptist Church of LaGrange. Due to both careers the family moved numerous times. And each time were blessed to find church homes that embraced their love of God and family. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio.

In 2003, they moved to Olathe Kansas where they became members of Second Baptist Church of Olathe. Kert and Deborah served as Facilitators for the Crown Financial class. It is during that time Kert's faith became strengthened as he was going through a job transition at the time and was blessed with multiple job offers while he learned about God's word and dealing with money. Kert also served as Vice-President of the Usher Board, a Church Trustee, and a member of the Pastor's Aide Committee

Kert was the Store Manager at Murphys USA in Shawnee and well respected by the community. He loved wrestling, football, golf, music and traveling. His love of music was epic, he could sing along with any song playing on the radio. He also enjoyed watching paranormal investigation documentaries. He liked to travel and particularly loved to go on cruises. He was a kind gentle man with an extensive love for his family. His idea of a perfect day was staying at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Deborah Tensley-Jones, daughters Princetta Jones, Kertrina Clark, and Angie Hughes (Davenport, IA), sons Kert Jones II and Lloyd Jones {Carrie} (Davenport), brothers Kemp Jones {Andrea} (Davenport), Darwin Jones {Nicole} (Rock Island, IL) Darryl Jones {Jenny} (Moline, IL), Rodney Jones (Davenport), and Curtis Jones (Davenport), sisters Vickie Joiner (Davenport), Brenda Jones (Bettendorf, IA) Deborah Jones (Davenport, and Norita Glispie (Las Vegas, NV) grandchildren Tyvionte, Tavian, Jayden, Elijah, Adrian, Isabella, Princeton, Peyton, and Kehlani. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Kert was preceded in death by his father Fred, mother, Mary, three brothers Eric, Fred Jr, Julius and grandson Dominick.

Funeral services Saturday, May 9, at 11:00 am Second Baptist Church of Olathe. Private disposition. Service conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may shared on or website. Due to the COVID19 Pandemic the homegoing services are private, services will be on You Tube/Jnit451NxWM.
