Obituary

Kevin Leon Dawson, 56, was born June 7, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri to LaVeda B. Daniels and George F. Dawson, Jr. He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Franklin Dawson; two sisters, Latoya Dawson and Berthea Dawson Triplett. Kevin attended the Kansas City Public Schools, obtaining his GED. He later took several college courses. Kevin met and married Juanita McKenzie while they were both enlisted in the United States Army. To this union four sons were born: Kevin II, George, Franklin and KJuan. Later in life Kevin met and married Robin Triplett. At the time of his death, he shared a special relationship with Lovetta Coleman. Kevin served fifteen years in the United States Army during which time he was stationed in Germany, Greece, South Carolina, Texas, Hawaii, Ft. Leonard Wood, Alaska and Atlanta. He received several decorations, medals, awards and ribbons including the Army Service ribbon, National Defense Service medal, Rifle M16 Sharp Shooter badge, Oversea Service ribbon, Professional Development ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal. Kevin departed this life on July 13, 2016 at St. Sophia Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Louis, Missouri. He leaves to cherish his memory: four sons, Kevin Dawson II, Franklin Dawson, KJuan Dawson all of Macon, GA and George Dawson (Danielle) of Atlanta, GA; his loving mother, Mrs. LaVeda Daniels of St. Louis, MO; two brothers, Michael Dawson (Voncell) and Rev. Robert L. Smith II both of KCMO; four sisters, Marquita Douglas of KCMO, Roberta Over (Ron) of Dallas, TX, Lonesta Jones of Alaska and Patricia Yates of St. Louis, MO; one uncle, Leon Pettis, Kr.; five aunts, Anna J. Tittle, Janice Dawson, Elaine Harris (Elmer), Alma Daniels and Nancy Gully; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, July 22, 2:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
