Obituary

Kim Rochelle Fight-January was born December 14, 1960 to the union of Jimmie and Pearline Fight. She was the third child born to this union, a baby girl, who was deeply loved and blessed. Kim has spent her entire life growing up in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Blessed Sacrament Parochial School and graduated from Bishop Hogan High School. Kim was very active in high school and always had many friends. For years she took tap dance and ballet at the Smith Sisters Dance Studio. Kim professed a hope in Jesus Christ, uniting with Greenwood Baptist Church on the west side of Kansas City, under the pastorage of Rev. McKinley Dukes. Years later, she united with Palestine Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ under the pastorage of Rev. Earl Abel, where she worshiped faithfully until called home by the Lord. During her illness she developed an unwavering and steadfast faith in the Lord that endured while she battled cancer. She was an encouragement to those she met during her battle. Those who interfaced with Kim during this phase of her life's journey realized that her faith sustained her during this most difficult period. She would not be consumed by negativity that could adversely impact her healing. Kim had a long and successful employment tenure with Alliant Tech Systems (Lake City Army Ammunition Plant) for 28 years, where she was appreciated and developed many friendships. Kim departed this life on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Saint Luke's Hospice House. She was preceded in death by her parents Jimmie and Pearline Fight, and her brother George Luckey. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Teoná R. Jackson; two sons, Christopher M. Jackson and Jonathan L. Jackson; four grandchildren, Ar'Monté D. Bostic, Montaysha R. Henry, Savaughna R. Henry, and Calia P. Jackson; two brothers, Jimmie L. Fight (Cassandra) and Michael D. Fight (Tonya); six nieces, Markela Thatcher, Tela Morton, Kelly Luckey, Fonté Jamerson, Adrienne Fight, and Michila C. Fight, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
