Obituary

Kim Oliver passed away on July 14, 2024, at the age of 67. Born in Kansas City, MO, she spent most of her life there. A beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, Kim's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Gladys Oliver; siblings Venus Webb, Angela Oliver, Marilyn Riley; brothers Gregory, Anthony, Richard, Michael, and Leonard Oliver Jr.; and her cherished son, Kemel "Babe" Oliver. She is survived by her sister Linda Parker, brother Robert Smith, children, grandchildren, life partner John Bibbs, daughter Kachena "Chena," sons Kijuan (Latecia), Kenneth, five grandchildren: Dominique, Kenneth Jr., Jeremiah, Kendall, Kemani; two great-grandchildren, Deniro and Nola; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Bishop Lillis High School in 1975, Kim began working at Clymer Community Center as a job coach. She learned computer trades and held various jobs until retiring to become a full-time foster mom to three of her grandchildren.

Kim relished cooking for every holiday, especially known for her exquisite oyster dressing, a family recipe she alone mastered and could have commercialized. An avid Chiefs fan, she would prepare meals early on Sundays to watch the games, passionately cheering and playfully jeering the rivals.

Dedicated to her grandchildren, Kim witnessed the graduation of four out of five, including three she raised. Even after a 23-day hospital stay, she returned home to cook for them, as they were her heart's joy. She was overjoyed by the arrival of her great-granddaughter Nola, who was ready to be doted on. Kim's absence will be deeply felt by a multitude of family and friends whom she has forever impacted with her steadfast love.
