Kyla M. Cheffen, 20, was born November 2, 1996 in Kansas City, Missouri to Corey Cheffen and Torrey Odum. She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, John and Lizzie Cheffen, and an uncle, Roger Eugene Hill, Sr. Kyla was educated in the public schools of KCMO and was a graduate of Central High School. She furthered her education earning her C.N.A. and Medical Coding certifications. Kyla confessed her faith in Christ and was an active member of New Life City Church under the leadership of Pastor Troy Campbell. She genuinely loved the Lord and worshipping with her church family. Kyla was previously employed as a telecommunications operator and a restaurant manager but found her niche in home healthcare, where she aided in the care of the disabled. She was most recently employed by Win Publishing in Nixa, Missouri. Kyla loved her spending time with her family. Along with her longtime partner and friend, Cornelius and son, J'Ceon Omari, they were expecting an addition to their own family. Kyla was such a joy to be around. Her bubbly personality drew others in, and her kind and gentle demeanor reached all she came in contact with. Kyla departed this life on August 13, 2017 in Springfield, Missouri. Her fun-loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, J'Ceon O. Cummings; father, Torrey Odum; mother, Corey Cheffen; grandparents, Sheila Cheffen and Donna and Calvin Cheffen; brothers, Kahlil Cheffen and Keontay Cheffen; sisters, Ky'era Gray and Tiera Gray; aunts, Julia Brazil and Stephanie Cheffen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
