Ladell Jethro Garlington, 74, was born April 12, 1945 in Hattieville, Arkansas to Benjamin Franklin Garlington and Anna L. (Byers) Garlington.

In August of 1963, Ladell relocated to Kansas City, Missouri and started his first job at Beloved Toys from 1963-1965. He then started a new journey with Bendix (Honeywell) from 1965-2005 from which he retired after forty-one years of service.

Ladell met the love of his life, Dorris Darlene Ellison, in the early 1980's. The two were united in marriage on December 22, 1990. No children were born to their union.

Ladell enjoyed hanging with his family and friends, especially his nieces. He loved dancing, two-stepping being his favorite.

Ladell departed this life on August 3, 2019 at the University of Kansas Hospital. He was preceded in death by wife, Dorris D. Garlington; parents, Benjamin F. Garlington and Anna L. Byers Garlington; five brothers, Rufus Calvin "R.C." Garlington, Sherman Garlington, Thurman "Boat" Garlington, Leon Garlington, Avon M. Garlington and one sister, Mary Alice Wallace.

He leaves to cherish his memory: five children, Damon, Mekel, Dominick and Davon all of KCMO and Brandy (Demetris) of South Carolina; three brothers, Benjamin F. Garlington, Jr. (Mae Ester), Wayne Sheldon "Shell" Garlington (Juliette) and Truman Garlington (Marsetta) all of KCK; three sisters, Dorthelia Daniels (James) and Vanessa Spencer both of KCK, and Lillian Moore (Wilbur) of Morrilton, AR; sister-in-law, Toyce Garlington and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Friday, August 9, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
