Ladonn K.
Alexander
Jul 8, 1945 — Aug 20, 2020
Ladonn Kay Alexander was born on July 8, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas to the union of Lee and Ethel Alexander who both preceded her in death. She was the third of three children in which one sibling; Effie James Hooks preceded her in death.
LaDonn dedicated her life to Christ at the young age of 5 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor S.A. Davenport. She was an active member in her youth participating in various auxiliaries including the youth choir.
Ladonn received her formal education in the Kansas City, Kansas school district and graduated from Sumner High School in 1963. She remained a proud active Sumner Spartan throughout her life. She entered the work force as a lunch counter attendant at Sealright Company shortly after high school. In 1969, she started her employment at the United States Postal Service, where she remained a loyal employee for 38 years, retiring in 2007. LaDonn remained a dedicated member of the APWU until her death.
During her retirement she enjoyed traveling to Florida and Walt Disney World with her family. She was always a good sport and would do whatever she could to keep up with her grandsons. LaDonn loved to dance, play softball and bowl. She was a great cook and was known for her spaghetti and cabbage. In her later years she spent time volunteering at various organizations such as City Union Mission, Ronald McDonald House and Harvester's. LaDonn was always up for a challenge, participating in a Susan G. Koman walk using all the energy she had to complete the walk at the age of 73. LaDonn's health started to decline limiting her activities but never stopping the love she felt for her family and grateful for each day the Lord allowed her to see. She clung to her favorite bible scripture of Psalms 27 knowing that the Lord was her light and salvation, trusting and believing in his word. LaDonn departed this life on August 20, 2020 released from the burdens of this world into the eternal loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
LaDonn leaves to cherish her memory sons Rodney (Marchelle) Alexander, Sr. and Jeffery Scott both of Kansas City, Missouri, one sister Ocie Mae Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri, two grandsons, Rodney (RJ) Alexander, Jr. and Austin Alexander of Kansas City, Longtime Friend Lillie Harris and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
