Obituary

LaMar Demond Staten, 44, suddenly passed away on September 26, 2020, in Sedalia, MO. He was born on December 22, 1975, in Los Angeles, California to Denise (Alberty) Christian and Preston Stayton. Although LaMar spent the early years of his life in California with his mom, Aunt Janice and Uncle Jerry, he grew up in Kansas City, MO., and later graduated from Westport High School.

LaMar was a well mannered, fun loving, hilarious father, grandfather, and husband who never met a stranger. He was well known for his dreamy eyes and cheesy smile. Most recently he worked for Kauffman and Arrowhead stadiums and received a promotion to supervisor just last year. LaMar thoroughly enjoyed his job, although he was a Raiders fan, he loved spending time with family, and recently provided care for his father and mother, before passing.

He was united in marriage to Christine (Scanlan) Staten on July 12, 2012, in Kansas City, MO. LaMar was a loving father to three beautiful daughters and one handsome son: Emily Turner, Jasmine Ball, Ava Staten, and Demond Staten.

LaMar was preceded in death by his mother, Denise Christian; sister, Artrena Stayton; and brother Antwain Thurman. He leaves to mourn his wife, Christine Staten; daughters, Emily Turner, Jasmine Ball, and Ava Staten; son, Demond Staten; grandsons, Brayden Pasley-Hicks, Noah Pasley-Hicks, Jonae Marquan Cushon II, and Xavier Quadir Cushon; father Preston Stayton; sisters Tianna (Lamar) Anderson, Marquita (Troi Sr) Maupins, Rosaland Thurman, Crystal Granderson, and Tera Umbles and a host of extended family and friends

We will deeply miss LaMars' larger than life personality and the care and concern he showed for others, but we take comfort in knowing that we will see him again one day.
