LaShon Renee Thomas, 36, was born November 27, 1982 in Kansas City to Dawn M. Green and Johnny Thomas. She was raised with loving care by her mother and "Daddy" Roosevelt Harris, who preceded her in death. "Shon" lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Memphis, Tennessee and Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Shon was a proud and devoted mother to her daughters, Shanice, Jaqueil and Ja'Mia. Their education was very important to her, making sure they went to the best schools possible. Shon was also a very devoted and loving daughter to her daddy Roosevelt who loved and cherished her. There was nothing that they wouldn't do for each other.

Family was very important to Shon. Weekends were spent with her extended family at her house or at the house of her sisters, brothers, cousins or Daddy. The party was always on with plenty of food, drinks, music and laughter. She loved spending time with her special nieces and would pick them up for weekend visits with her and her girls. Shon was a Cancer survivor of over ten years and a stroke survivor, who found joy in life despite these and other medical conditions.

At her current job as a receptionist at Lamar Court, she was dependable and enthusiastic. Shon always had a big smile on her face and there was no bigger smile than when she took her first cruise to Mexico with her daddy, aunts and cousins!

LaShon peacefully departed this life at her home on October 30, 2019. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dawn Green; daddy, Roosevelt Harris; paternal grandfather, Johnnie Oxner and maternal grandmother, Ruth Green Patterson.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Shanice Thomas, Jaqueil Hobby and Ja'Mia Hobby; brothers, Armahn Thomas, Rodrick Boyd, Johnny Guess and Brandon Thomas; sisters, Kandis Thomas, Ciara Patterson and Marchetta Cole; her father, Johnny Thomas; paternal grandfather, Henry (Robin) Williams; paternal grandmother, Catherine Oxner; a supportive grandmother-figure, JoAnn Collier McCray; special friend and soulmate, Jessy Karanja and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Friday, November 8, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Monday, November 11, 2019, 11:00 a.m. Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on website.
