Leannia Mitchell, 57, was born July 18, 1959 in Steele, Missouri to the union of Freddie and Martha Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her father, Freddie Mitchell; grandfather, Clarence Jones; grandmother, Mae Bertha Jones and an aunt, Brenda Jones-Fletcher. Leannia was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Southeast and Washington High Schools. She gave her life to Christ at Straightway Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Frank Flemon, where she was also a member. Leannia was a sweet, loving, funny woman with a gentle heart and a bright smile. She enjoyed throwing down in the kitchen, keeping a clean house, braiding hair and being with family and friends. She also loved children, having a good time and watching movies. Once a song came on, you'd know she was about to be singing ALL the lyrics. Leannia had a fearless spirit and wasn't afraid to put others in check! Leannia departed this life on January 3, 2017. She will be deeply missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: her only son, Searcy Mitchell (Dotta); her mother, Martha Mitchell; brother, Leroy Mitchell (Robin); sisters, Alice Flemon (Frank) and Freddie Mae Mitchell; grandchildren, Na'Iona Thompson, Na'Jah Rushing, Searcy Mitchell, Jr. and Santana Mitchell; nephews, David Mitchell, Laron Mitchell, Marcus Mitchell and Fred Mitchell (Jordan); niece, Roshonda Mitchell; and a host of uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 10, 11:00 a.m. at Springhill Baptist Church. Interment Blue Ridge Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
