Obituary

Leon Hinds, 81, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2018, at the St. Luke's Hospice House following a long term illness. Leon was the eighth of nine children born to Ben Hinds and Magglin Horn of Weleetka, Oklahoma.

Leon completed his formal education in Oklahoma that consisted of technical school in which he became an electrician. Leon moved to Kansas City, KS in 1965 to work for Massey Ferguson, an agricultural manufacturing company. During this time, he met and married Olive Marie Wyatt on June 19, 1971, who preceded him in death. From this union, one child was born, Tina Marie Hinds (Booth).

Leon held several positions within Massey Ferguson until he retired in 1988. He then began working for Calmar Plastics for 12 years and retired in 2000. Leon was a jack of all trades and believed in working to provide for his family. He continued to work well into his 70's with his last job at The Kansas City Star.

Leon enjoyed a wide range of hobbies to include working on old cars, fishing, watching sports and completing crossword puzzles. He mainly enjoyed spending time with those he loved most, his daughter, grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces.
