Leon Robinson, Jr., 36, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2019. Lovingly known by his family and friends as "Pona", he was born on June 29, 1983 in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Leon Robinson, Sr. and Belinda Robinson. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents as well as his uncle and cousins Sylvia Wilson and Annena Blanford.
Leon was a Christian and accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He graduated from William Chrisman High school in Independence, Missouri, where he played varsity football and wrestling. He attended college at Missouri Western University where he continued playing football. Leon played semi-professional football, which resulted in career-ending injury. Leon had many talents and skills. He selected a career in construction, which allowed him to demonstrate his many abilities.
Pona was kind, outgoing, charismatic, and a devoted father to his children. His children were the pride and joy of his life. He loved his family more than anything in the world. He was a loyal and supportive friend. Pona's vibrant personality and smile would light up a room. He had jokes and stories for days. Don't worry, if you didn't laugh, he would! He had the ability to bring happiness and excitement to everyone around him. Pona was known for being generous and giving his last to anyone in need. The legacy of Pona's loving spirit, sense of humor, and his enjoyment for life will live on through his children, family, and friends.
Leon leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Leon III "Tre", Keon, Khalaan and Keelian; his mother, Belinda Lucas (Rudolph) and father Leon Robinson, Sr. (Yvette); siblings, Tyèsha (Rasul), Centoriz, Jasmine (Eric), Jaime, Leondra, Brandon, and Brian; step sisters and brothers, Erica, Connie, Lagayle, Ralph, Quentin, and Tywell; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services Tuesday, July 30, 12:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on website.
