Obituary

Leon Yancy, 71, was born May 13, 1946 in Hughes, Arkansas to the late Anna Williams and Avan Yancy. He was also preceded in death by Freddie Mae, Eula Mae, Ervin, Margaret and Luther.

Leon was educated in the public schools of Hughes, Arkansas. He relocated to the Kansas City area over forty years ago where he would made his home.

Leon accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a member of Shalom Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Henry L. Pace.

Leon was united in marriage to Ms. Ellawease Scott on March 1, 1975. The two have shared forty-two years of precious memories. He was such devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather who always put family first and made he provided as best he could.

Leon was employed by Honeywell as a maintenance worker for a number of years. He remained a hardworking, dedicated employee until retiring in 1991.

Leon departed this earthly life on November 26, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospice House.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Ellawease Yancy; son, Tyrone Yancy (Stephanie); daughters, Pamela Scott (Carl), Pearline Yancy, Beatrice Yancy, Sylvia Yancy ,Sarah Yancy and Edna Yancy ; sister, Dorothy Williams (Lee); nephews, Stoney, Derrick, Walter and Sherrod; special niece, Louisa Davis; dear friends, Vernon Scott, Frank Fields and Eddie Fletcher; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
