Leonard B.
Randle
Jul 29, 1946 — Nov 3, 2020
Leonard B. Randle, was born on July 29, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas to Willie Lee Randle Sr. and Lula Mae Scott. Everyone called him "Jim" or "Jimmy", a nick name given to him by an uncle from Arkansas.
Jim attended the Kansas City Public School system, graduating from Central High School in 1964. He later attended Penn Valley College and transferred to Rockhurst University. Jim was a very proud Central High School Blue Eagle. He attended every class reunion and served in various capacities in support of his class.
Following graduation, Jim worked for Mobil Oil who then closed their Kansas City offices just six months before he was due to retire. He went on to work for Sprint Telecommunications, and later retired from R. H. Donnelly Corporation.
Jim married Judy Vappie in 1996 and they raised three children from previous marriages plus one born to their union. Definitely a family man. Jim cared greatly for his children and was a good organizer and made sure there was always enough. Jim attended all 54 RIHBY Family Reunions and was an integral part of the planning and success of every reunion.
Jim had a love for singing. He recently joined Debra Nabors (Lady D) on stage at the Blue room on 18th and Vine. This is a memory we will always treasure.
Landscaping and planting were his passion. He also was a willing spirit-helping everybody with anything. If he came to visit you, he'd probably grab a tool and work on something in your home.
Jim's true passion was golfing. In the early 80's he helped form The Kansas City Swingers Golf Club (KCSGA0. This a golf club of black men devoted to local community organizations providing college scholarships and support for youth activities.
Jim was a lifelong member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board, sang in the Male Chorus and loved cooking for church events.
November 03, 2020 saw Jim's earthly departure for his heavenly home. He was proceeded in death by both of his parents, siblings Mae Helen Richardson, James Arthur Randle, Phillip Wayne Randle, and Brenda Kay Wilcox.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, children Andre Randle, Derrick Randle, Quintin Randle and Vacinta Oliver, grandchildren; Aerica, Aerial, Olivia, Keith, Jerel and Anthony, siblings; Willie R. Randle (Donna), Arnetta L. Randle, Vicki J. Browning, David B. Randle, Lisa L.
