Lizzie Armstrong, 76 of Kansas City, Missouri, passed peacefully on December 24, 2020 with her family and friends Praying for her. Lizzie was born in Mississippi to the union of Lee Pittman and Suddie Pittman, whom proceeded her in death. To this marriage she had ten brothers and sisters, Clemie Pittman, Nettie Pittman Bradford and Margaret (Bobby) Westmoreland she leaves to mourn, three sisters Rena Doss, Lena Brown, and Linda Woodard four brothers Jesse Lee Pitman, Roosevelt Pittman, L.P Pittman and Odie Pittman also proceeded her in death. She attended South Calhoun High School in Mississippi.
Lizzie married Leonard Armstrong in 1961 and remained married until her resting day. To this union she had 6 kids, that she leaves to mourn her passing. Arlene (Anthony) Martin of Kansas City, Mo., Danny (Carla) Armstrong of Kansas City, Mo., Sandy (Karl) Chaney of Kansas City, Mo., Theresa Armstrong of Kansas City, Mo., Marie Armstrong of Kansas City, Mo., Tasha Armstrong (Damon Howard) of Tampa, Florida and one God Son Devin Edwards of Kansas City, Mo. She had 18 grandchildren one Demarcus Williams proceeded her in death, 23 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews & friends.
Lizzie moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1963 where she loved growing up among her family and many friends, she was a passionate member of Concord Fortress of Life Baptist Church. Lizzie loved cooking and is known for her salmon croquets, she also loved playing cards (Pitty Pat) and sharing her BIG HEART and WARM SMILE in every room she entered. Her joyful hugs big smiles and warm greetings touched everyone she encountered, even during her ill times Lizzie laughter and love was always present. Not only did she raise her 6 children she helped to raise all of the kids in the neighborhood, they all knew you could go sit and laugh with her, yet she made sure they too remained respectful and kind to others.
Lizzie's big heart smile and hugs will truly be missed by her family and friends, yet her BIG HEART will forever be seen through all the people lives she touched.
Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Lizzie. Acknowledge, we humble beseech you a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive her into the arms of your mercy, into the Blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in life. Amen.
Funeral service will be Saturday, January 09, 2021, 11 am, at Oak Grove MBC. Interment will be at Blue Ridge Lawn Cemetery. Visitation from 10 am-11 am. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
