Lizzie Douglas-Maxwell, 82, was born on August 31, 1936 to the union of Albert and Lilly Ware in Shreveport. Louisiana. Her parents, one brother Willie Ware, a daughter Rosemary Douglas, two grandsons Evangel Douglas, Jr. and Jack Douglas, Jr., great grandson TaShawn M. Thompson, great granddaughter Ma'Kayla Rolf and niece, Carolyn Grant all preceded her in death.
Lizzie was educated in the Shreveport, Louisiana public schools. She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she made her home of over 50 years. She was united in marriage to Mack C. Douglas on December 23, 1953, he also preceded her in death. She later united in marriage to Herman Maxwell on May 7, 1990, whom also preceded her in death.
Lizzie was a member of the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership Rev. Stewart Johnson where she was a member of the choir. She was employed at G&K Laundry until her health began to fail.
Lizzie departed this life on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Redwood of Blue River Care Center. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
. She leaves to cherish her memory: eight sons, Jimmie L. Douglas (Karen), Wade Douglas (Diane), Mack C. Douglas, Louis Douglas, Jack Douglas, Roy L. Douglas, Evangel Douglas and Varnum Douglas; four daughters, Willie M. Douglas, Annette Walter, Izetta Douglas and LaVonda Douglas; thirty-four grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren; two special cousins, Arthur Anderson and M.C. Ware, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services Friday, February 8, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
