Lois Jean Harris was born February 28, 1937 at 8:15pm, General Hospital #2, to Leo M. Brown and Iva Lorraine (McConnell) Brown in Kansas City, Missouri before moving to Los Angeles, California in 1980; she was the third of ten children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bobby Gene Harris and his daughter Wanda Harris; sister, Leora C. Martin; five brothers; Leo Moses Brown, Jr., Lester Mack Brown, Sr., Leonard Connell Brown, Sr., Larry Little Brown and Louis, Andre Brown; previous husbands; Lawrence Wright, Jr. and Sam Watson, Jr. and her special friend Albert Edwards Jr. Lois accepted Christ at an early age; completed her ABC's (Accept, Believe and Confess) she was reared as a Jehovah Witness. In her last year of life she was affiliated with St. Andrew United Methodist Church where she worshipped with her daughter & son-in-law (Linda & Randy Cason). She relished in her personal relationship with her Lord & Savior - Jesus Christ. Lois was educated in Kansas City at R.T. Coles. She was raised on Kansas City's Westside at 2842 Bell, KCMO. She furthered her education and received certification as a Dental Assistant from the University of Alabama Dental School's continuing education program. Lois received formal dentistry training at UMKC School of Dentistry; after a period of trial employment as a dental assistant at Children's Mercy Hospital, she became permanent staff. Lois loved her work and wished she had entered this field sooner. Once in the field of Dentistry she said, 'I wouldn't trade it for anything.' Knowledge of achievement deepened her job satisfaction. She surmounted the obstacles of not having a high school diploma, and with 5 daughters (ages 3-15 years old) at age 33, Lois was well on her way to economic self-sufficiency. She was united in marriage to Sam Watson Jr and to this union three daughters were born - Linda Diana, Sharon Denise & Veronica Lois; the marriage was later dissolved. Her union with Joe Tillman brought another blessing of daughter, Stephanie Kay. Another union was formed with Bernard Page and baby girl Malica Antoinette was born. Before enrolling in the W.I.N. program, Lois was employed as a housekeeper for the Goldstein Family. She also worked as a Nurse Aide at Baptist Memorial Hospital & at South Carolina Baptist Hospital; later employment included St. Joseph Hospital as a Physical Therapy Assistant, Wayne Miner Health Center & VA Hospital as a dental assistant. In addition, she worked for VA Hospital, Wadsworth & Brentwood California location until her retirement on January 30, 2006 after 25 years of Service where she received numerous accolades for Outstanding Performance in Service. Lois was an avid Kansas City Chiefs & Royals fan. She will always be remembered for being forgiving almost to the point of disbelief. She was an astounding example of unconditional love. Lois had an undeniable SMILE. Lois departed her earthly life on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law; Linda & Randy Cason. She leaves so many memories to be cherished, especially her favorite saying 'I have five (5) daughters'; daughters, Linda D. Cason (Randy), Sharon D. Kiboko, Veronica L. Watson-Perkins (Daniel), Stephanie K. Watson, Malica A. Page all of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Lawrence Brown of Tucson, AZ and Lloyd Brown of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Loretta Brown of Kansas City, MO; two brothers-in-law, Claude Harris and T.J. Harris, both of Ruston, LA; three sisters-in-law, Goldie Brown, Gloria and Doris; sixteen grandchildren, Yolanda McKinzy (Lester), Keowa Norton (Cedric), Calvin Watson, Willis King, Autumn Watson, Daniel Perkins, Jr., Denziel Perkins, Melissa Rushing, Tyrone Rushing (Tamila), Stephen Watson, Louis Watson, Lyndale Watson, Roger Cubie (the son she always wanted-they lived together for 15 years) Keisha Cubie, Bobby Page and Jessica Bailey; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. She also leaves favorite cousins, Gilbert McConnell and Barbara Allen; best friends, Gertie Jean Jones and Georgia Dixon; her Los Angeles, CA family and friends, Sandra Green (Merle) and Jan Pressley, Mary Cesar, Laverne Mitchell, and Lucille Hill (Ferrell); and neighbors Sharon Collins and Rhonda. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Interment Blue Ridge Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
