Obituary

Ms. Lola Ballard Brown entered into eternal rest on August 9, 2020 in Kansas City, MO. She was born on July 24, 1936 in Gibson Station, Oklahoma to James and Iola Ballard.

Ms. Lola was raised in a Christ-centered home where the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was freely expressed, expounded upon, and explained for her to establish a lifelong relationship with Jesus. She was baptized in Gibson Station, Oklahoma. She was God's gift unto us who gave us nurture, comfort, and unconditional love.

Ms. Lola earned her Associate Degree from Bacone College School of Nursing, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Bachelor Degree from Langston University School of Nursing, Langston, Oklahoma, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Northeastern State University, and Master of Science Degree in Psychology from Northeastern State University, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She received a Classroom Instructor Certification in Elementary Education from the Kansas City, Missouri School District.

Ms. Lola Served as a Sunday School Teacher and Church Musician. She worked as an Elementary School Teacher and Kindergarten School Nurse at Della Lamb Charter School, in Kansas City, Missouri. She also work as Psychiatric Nurse III at Rainbow Mental Health in Kansas City, Kansas, Director of Nursing Services Satellite Clinic at the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Staff Nurse at Western Missouri Mental Health and Diagnostic Center in Kansas City, Missouri, Clinical Staff Nurse/Counselor with the Department of Human Services, Staff Nurse at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Muskogee Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Lola was our God-sent angel and there was no doubt about His special presence in her life. The loved ones who will miss Ms. Lola include her twin sister Dr. Ola B. Jones, of Kansas City, Missouri, her Kansas City area nieces, and nephews: Tracey Hawkins (William), Stacey Johnson-Cosby (DeWayne), Constance Johnson, Ted Johnson (Natalie) and Aliyah Jones, and a host of nieces and nephews. The loved ones who preceded her in death include her parents; her mother, Lola Allen Ballard and her father, James Ballard, her sisters; Baby Carrol Leeks, Willie Mae Ballard, Cordia Mae Brewster, her brothers, James Ballard and Reverend Wayford Cotton.

Funeral services Saturday, August 22, 11:00 am at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation 10:00 am-11:00 am at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to the COVID 19 Panademic all guest are required to wear mask.
