Lola Vivian Ramey 'Boots', 82, was born January 6, 1934 in Menifee, Arkansas to Luster ad Aquilla Dickey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cledis Ramey; sons, Darren Ramey and Kenneth Ramey; stepson, Curtis Leakes and brother, Cardell Hervey. Lola was educated in the Arkansas Public School System. After graduating from high school in Menifee she attended AM&N, now known as UAPB, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Lola met the love of her life, Cledis, at college and they married in 1954. To this union five children were born. Lola held numerous jobs including at the Lee Walls Garment Factory, Hancock Fabric and she was also 'The Avon Lady' for several years. She was the secretary for the family restaurant business, The Chicken Inn. Her most rewarding job was being a homemaker and caregiver to all. She loved children and loved to cook so her house was always full. Lola was a member of Swope Parkway Church of Christ for over seventy years. She served with the Willing Workers, Samaritan Sisters, Meals on Wheels, Benevolent Ministry and as a Sunday School teacher. She was always willing to help in whatever capacity she was asked to serve in. Lola truly loved the Lord and her works spoke for themselves. Lola was a member of L&M Starletts Bowling Team for several years. She traveled extensively with her sisters travel club, The Elite Travelers. As you can see, Lola lived life to the fullest. Anyone who knew her knew that she loved to shop. She had her special chauffeurs, her niece Charlotte, daughter Yvonne and sister Vet. Lola departed this life on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Life Care Center of Grandview, where she had been a resident for the past nine years. She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Trecie Ramey, Angelle Ramey of KCMO, and Jackie Ramey of Grandview, MO; one stepson, Charles Leakes of Rubonia, FL; one brother, Lester Dickey of Grandview, MO; two sisters, Adravella Mondaine of KCMO, Norma Thomas of Raytown, MO; three grandsons, one granddaughter, four great grandchildren; one aunt, Ida Erby; two special daughters, Yvonne Williamson and Thelma Hayes; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 16, 12:00 p.m. at Swope Parkway Church of Christ. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on this website.
