Lonnie H. Cobb, a Lee's Summit, Mo resident for 15 years, was born March 17, 1936, to Fred and Iris Cooksey Cobb in Checotah, Oklahoma. He was the oldest of three sons. Preceding Lonnie in death: his parents, Fred and Iris Cobb, son: Lonnie Cobb, Jr., daughter: Rowena Alexander, brothers: Lionel Cobb and Donald Martin. Aunt: Elma Cooksey of Oklahoma; Father and Mother-in-law: Stoestle and Josephine Avery.
He navigated the Checotah Township Public Schools during his early, middle, and late adolescent years, which included Warrior K thru 8 School, and Rentiesville High School. Lonnie's Uncle Carnell and Aunt Lois Jackson encouraged him to relocate and unite with their family in Kansas City, MO. He was accepted as a son and therefore relocated to and subsequently pursued several career interests in Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, Kansas.
Being the epitome of an endearing people person, Lonnie served as a Porter and Sales Representative at Feld Chevrolet for 25 years, Sales Representative at Taylor Coulson Chevrolet 10 years and a Sales Representative at Major Cadillac for 24 years.
Lonnie was a member of the KCK Jaycees. In 2006, Lonnie was honored by Yates, Inc. and given "A Man of Distinction'" award. He also received a "Legion of Leaders" ring from Feld Chevrolet and belonged to the Cadillac "Crest Club" in which he was awarded two diamond rings.
Lonnie accepted the call to Christian salvation at an early age. He united with Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO in 1956 under the leadership of Rev. Connery and later Rev. A. L. Johnson, Sr. He served on Usher board #2, Capital Improvement, Male Chorus, and as a Trustee. Later in life he united with First Baptist Church Blue Springs located in Independence, MO under the leadership of Pastor Randall Stotts. Lonnie served as a greeter, attended Bible Study, Sunday School, KeenAgers, and belonged to the Britton and Martin Life Group.
He enjoyed listening to music, traveling, and talking with his grandchildren.
Lonnie was united in marriage to Patricia P. Avery, November 27, 1982, and cherished her as a God given soul mate for 38 ½ years. As Lonnie's spouse Patricia willingly accepted, welcomed, and flourished in her role as a stepmother for six children.
Despite his quiet demeanor, Lonnie was widely known for his quick wit, charitable, and affectionate ways. He only saw the best in people and would do anything helpful for people.
Lonnie laid down his earthly body and picked up his heavenly robe on Sunday, August 8, 2021. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend loved by all.
Left to be forever cherished by his beloved wife: Patricia Cobb of the home, four children: Robert Bond, Desoto, TX, Aleece Campbell, Kansas City, MO, Darry Cobb (Cheryl) Beeville, TX, and Eben Cobb (Carmencita) Midlothian, TX. Cousins like sisters: Grace Robinson (Willis) and Phyllis Elliott. Aunt: Louise McGhee, Oklahoma. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Sister-in law: Grace Shockley, brothers-in-laws: Felton (Lois) Avery, Larry Avery, John (Vivian) Avery, David (Vivian deceased) Avery, and Dale (Laura) Avery. Extended family: Nedra Carney, Betty Whitcomb, and Carolyn Harrison.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday August 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church Blue Springs located in Independence, MO. Visitation 9:00 a.m. -11. Internment Forest Hill/Calvary Cemetery. Masks are required. Services provided by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
