Lottie B. Marks, the daughter of the late Emanuel and Lizzie Bush Rambo was born August 1, 1922 in Ringgold, Louisiana. She was the third of twelve children. Lottie received her education in Ringgold. She was united in marriage to the late Loraine Roberson and to this union, three children were born. This marriage was later dissolved. She then met and married the man of her dreams, the late Joseph Marks Jr., and to this union, two children were born. A farmer by trade, Lottie was a hard worker and made her living farming her land, while her husband worked at a sawmill.
She confessed Christ at early age and was a long-time member of Saint Luke #1 Baptist Church in Ringgold, Louisiana. During her time there, she served as the president of the usher board and was a dedicated member of the mission department. Shortly after the passing of husband, Joseph, she then relocated to Kansas City, Missouri.
Upon her relocation, Lottie immediately united with the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ under the leadership of her son, Pastor Bobby G. Roberson. During her membership, she was a faithful member of the mother board, the Nehemiah Sheepfold, and the Sunday School department. She remained a faithful member of Corinthian until her health began to fail.
Lottie loved cooking, canning and quilting. She was known for her famous biscuits and teacakes; people were always asking her to make biscuits. She also shared her love for quilting with her children and grandchildren. While being a resident at Swope Ridge Gardens and Truman Medical Center Lakewood Care Center, she was able to enjoy meals made specifically for her by Jessie and George Clemons.
Lottie B. Marks departed this life on Saturday, March 07, 2020 at Truman Medical Center Lakewood Care Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emanuel and Lizzie Bush Rambo, Husband, Joseph Marks Jr., Son, Joseph Marks III, Son-In-law, Eligish Thomas, Granddaughter, Lenora Roberson, Two great grand-children, Brionna Byers and Caron Marks, four Sisters Geneva Blunt, Lula B. Love, Jessie B. Johnson and Delleaner Roberson.
She leaves to cherish and honor her memory: her son, Reverend Bobby G. Roberson (Mary), 4 daughters: Lurene Thomas, Lowree Strickland (Hubert), Mary Riley and Caroline Anderson (all of Kansas City, Missouri); 3 sisters: Erma Mae Simmons, Lizzy Mae Ashley, Glossie Love; 4 brothers: Reverend Emanuel Rambo (Doris), Reverend Julius Rambo (Louise), Edward Rambo (Patricia) and Albert Rambo (all of Kansas City, Missouri); an uncle, DeRoy Rambo (New Orleans, LA); a goddaughter: Jessie Clemons (George); 17 grandchildren, 35 Great-grandchildren and 31 Great-Great Grandchildren, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service Saturday, March 14, 11:00 a.m. Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
