Obituary

Louis Lee Barnes, Sr., was born on September 11, 1946 in marked Tree, Arkansas to the union of Louis Daniel Barnes and Levada Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Willie Joe Barnes and a sister, Bennie Faye Crockett.

Louis was educated in the Marked Tree, Arkansas public schools. He relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where made his home over twenty years. He was a master mason. On May 9, 1969 he was united in marriage to the former Verdis Barnes.

Louis was employed by American Building Maintenance (ABM) until he retired in June 2015. He was a caring, lovable and kind man who never had a issue with hard work. He loved spending quality time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He departed this on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Centerpoint Medical Center.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Louis Lee Barnes, Jr., Grandview, MO; two daughters, Louvetta Lee Barnes, Kansas City, MO and Vanada Lee Barnes, Grandview, MO; one brother, Larry Barnes, Jonesboro, AR; three sisters, Dorothy Jean McMilliam, Mobile, AL, Donna Marie Lathon, Belton, MO and Beverly Ann Scott, Raytown, MO; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 30, at 2:00pm at the Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00pm-2:00pm at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to the COVID 19 Panademic situation mask are required for admittance.
