Luther H. Holman, Jr., 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on March 9, 2016. He was born October 19, 1935 in Marvell, Arkansas. His parents, Luther H. and Ruby Lee (Richardson) Holman; two brothers, Jasper Holman and Darrell Holman; two sisters, Tarie L. Holman and Dinah L. Holman all preceded him death. Luther was educated in the public schools of Arkansas. At the age of thirteen, his family moved to the Kansas City area where he attended R. T. Coles Vocational High School. Luther was the president of Local 555. He owned his own gas station and held employment at Clay and Bailey as a welder, Al's Grocery in Leed's as a stocker, Krahenbuhl, as a school bus driver, and as a landscaper. He also volunteered at Swope Ridge every Wednesday until his health failed. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, watching Westerns, and spending time with his grandchildren. Luther was united in marriage to Mary Holman for fifty years. She later preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Dwayne Davis (Christina); three grandchildren Lorenzo Davis, Tamika Davis and Carmaleta Davis; one great grandson, Honor Hatch; three brothers, Jimmy Lee Holman, Aaron Strauther and James Strauther; twelve sisters, Mamie Bauldin, Mary Richardson, Ophelia Holman, Carrie Wynn (Victor) Darlene Holman, Maxine Buckley, Lorrie Franklin (Dominque), Brenda Holman, Linda Holman, Melody Holman and Augusta Stallworth (George); a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, the Leed's family and his friends at Swope Ridge. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 12, 1:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the chapel.
