Obituary

Luther Curtis Riddle, 88, passed away on July 20, 2018 at Research Medical Center. He was born July 11, 1930 in Hartsthorne, Oklahoma to Joseph Cephas and Annie Lee Riddle. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Annie Riddle; six brothers, Joseph Cephas, Jr., Claude Riddle, Eddie Riddle, Arthur Riddle, Ulysses Joe Carter and Tommy Riddle; four sisters, Elevyn Chambers, Ruby Smitherman, Jovenia Bridgeman and Ivie Johnson; seven stepchildren, three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.

Luther was educated in the public schools of Hartshorne, Oklahoma. He later served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Luther was a faithful member of Pilgrims Rest Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He attended morning worship, bible study, afternoon programs or whenever he was needed until his health began to fail.

Luther met and married Amanda Rollins who also preceded him in death. No children were born to this union. In 1986, he met and married Juanita Grant. No children were born to this union. "Uncle Luther", as he was called, was a father figure to many.

His memories are cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Juanita Riddle; two stepsons, Edgar Rollins (Brenda) and Mike Harris; three stepdaughters, Lola Wilkerson (David), Carol Myer-Kerrigan (Kevin) and Sharon Kennedy; one brother, Buddy Riddle (Delores) of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Joan Sinclair-Choate of Hartshorne, OK; four brothers-in-law, Nathaniel Johnson, Hank Bridgeman, Alphonso Sinclair and Robert Harris; seven sisters-in-law, Betty Riddle, Dorris Lona, Betty, Dorothy Jackson (Stanley), Edna Bandy, Ella Potts (Jerry), and Ersie Collins (James); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services Tuesday, July 31, 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrims Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
