Obituary

Mrs. Mable Lee Ford, 87, KCMO, was born to the union of Joseph and Mary Montgomery-Sanders on February 24, 1929 in Bonita, Louisiana. Both parents, eleven siblings and her son, Nathaniel Ford preceded her in death. Mrs. Ford was educated in the Louisiana Public School System and graduated from Bastrop High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and had an active role in her church. As director of series, she ensured that the fellowship had all it needed for the congregation. She also served as a Sunday school teacher and choir director, while participating in many other activities within the church. She truly loved serving the Lord. Mrs. Ford was joined in holy matrimony to O.D. Ford on December 3, 1955. To this union five children were born. She was an avid gardener and an excellent cook. Her butter rolls, coconut cake and sweet potato pie were loved and appreciated by all. She had an infinite love for canning, gardening and raising livestock. As a talented seamstress who often made clothing for her family, she was also active in a sewing circle that made beautiful quilts for her congregation and community. She was known for 'plaiting that peach tree switch and using it'. Mrs. Ford ran her race and fought a good fight for the Lord, departing this earthly life on December 19, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Glendoria Stewart of KCMO, Hazel M. Lee (David) of Bastrop, LA, Lizzie M. Ford of KCMO, Margaret J. Ford of Bastrop, LA, Jacqueline A. Ford of KCMO, Carolyn A. Tolbert (Earl) of KCMO and Sherman D. Ford (Angeline) of Omaha, NE; siblings, Thomas E. Sanders of Raymore, MO, Jerry Sanders (Eula) of Shreveport, LA, Mary F. McFadden (David) of Grandview, MO, Lee Daisy Dailey of Grain Valley, MO; twenty-six grandchildren, forty-nine great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
