Obituary

Mamie Joe Griffin, 68, was born July 20, 1947 in Waynesboro, Georgia to Minus Freeman, Sr. and Annie Mae (Scott) Freeman. Mamie was educated in the public schools of Augusta, Georgia, graduating from Lucy C. Laney High School in the class of 1967. She later attended House of Heavilin Beauty School. As an area resident of over forty-five years, Mamie was a member of New Missionary Seventh Day Adventist Church where she also designed the church bulletins. She worked as a computer artist for Hallmark Cards until retiring in 2004. Mamie departed this life on June 23, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roosevelt Freeman. She is survived by: her loving husband, Ralph Griffin; four brothers, Minus Freeman, Jr. (Juanita), Abe Robert Freeman (Earlene), Lindsay Freeman (Robbie) and Virgil Freeman; four sisters, Ann Lapsley (Kenny), Pearlie Evans (Arthur), Dora Moseley and Willie Mae Johnson; special niece, Chevena Freeman and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be Monday, June 27, 11:00 a.m. at XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
