Margaret
Williams
Oct 28, 1940 — Feb 13, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret Williams (Jones), a woman of
remarkable character and commitment. Born in Houston, Texas, to the union of Solomon and Mary
Elizabeth (Thomas) Williams.
Mrs. Williams embraced the teachings of Christ at an early age, finding solace and community at New
Pleasant Green Baptist Church (1510 Andrew St., Houston,TX) under the guidance of the late Rev. B.T.
Steward. Later in life, she relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where she attended college and her spiritual
journey at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. A.L. Colbert. After
many years of service, she decided to transition her family to Grace Baptist Church, where she continued
to find solace and inspiration under the leadership of Rev. A. Lavender. Her unwavering dedication led
her to actively contribute to the church and community, where she participated in various roles, including:
the Bus Stop Ministry, Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School Teacher, and eventually serving as
the assistant Sunday School Superintendent.
A distinguished professional, Mrs. Williams dedicated 35 years to Honeywell Bendix Corporation-
Department of Defense. Upon her retirement, she channeled her energy into nurturing her family and
altruism, becoming a devoted volunteer for several organizations. Her philanthropic endeavors included
"Operation Push" under the leadership of Mr. Joseph Beasley, the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Black Business Women of Missouri, the Santa Fe Hills
Homeowners Association, the Golden Eagle Club of Booker T. Washington High School (Houston, Tx),
The JoyRiders travel club, BirthRight.
Mrs. Williams departed this life surrounded by the love and comfort of her family and friends. Preceding
her in death were both parents, Solomon and Mary Williams, her two sisters Bernice Elizabeth
Netherlands and Valarie Rose Williams, her brother Milton Williams, and infant son, and her husband
Manuel Jones. Mrs. Williams is survived by her son, Roderick Williams, and leaves a lasting legacy
through her four grandchildren: Tanisha Dupree, Dr. Kristen Nichole (Williams) Hardaway, Roderick
(Lil' Rod) Solomon Cortez Williams, Xavier Williams (Carrington). Additionally, she is remembered by
her five great-grandchildren: De'Montay Dupree (Brandi), Terrion Dupree, Averi Lynn Williams,
Phoenix Simone Williams, Zoe Monroe Williams, and two great-great-grandchildren: Amari Dupree and

In remembrance of Mrs. Margaret Williams (Jones), may her enduring legacy of compassion, faith, and
selfless service be a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing her. Let us carry forward the
lessons of resilience and kindness she has exemplified throughout her life. As we bid farewell to a
remarkable soul whose warmth, generosity, and unwavering love that touch the lives of many, may her
spirit live in the cherished memories of family and friends.
May she rest in eternal peace.
