Obituary

Marie Denise Andy Gates was born on February 25, 1961, in Martinez, California to the parents of Eugene and Patricia Andy. Her parents had five children. Her brother, Eugene Andy and both her parents have preceded her death.

Marie graduated from Kentucky High School in 1979 and was a straight "A" student. She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1989.

She was employed with various Home Health Agencies throughout the greater Kansas City area. She loved "Caregiving" and took great pride and good care of her patients she was assigned. Prior to her illness, she was employed with Homestead Home Healthcare and worked until she became ill.

Marie was engaged to be married to Tyree Davis and they worshipped together at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Timothy Morgan until Tyree passed away. However, they both loved their grandchildren. Marie later met Willie Aubrey of Kansas City, Missouri. Marie was a faithful and devoted member of Mt. Pisgah Church.

Marie transitioned her membership over to the newly reorganized ministry of True Heart Ministries, now under the leadership of Pastor Myesha Green. She was a dedicated member of the church and loved to serve the Lord through her talents and gifts in various capacities of the church. She was an active member and participated in the Usher Board, a children's Sunday School teacher, a member of the Sisterhood Group and the Videographer for her church.

Marie also worked in the kitchen, was a member of Street Ministry, choir, the Praise Dance team, and a volunteer for Giving Hope and Help. She loved to travel anywhere with her two special friends Rhonda L. Fletcher and Annette Evans, and they called themselves "The Golden Girls. They would travel throughout the United States, abroad, and went on cruises together.

Marie loved having fun and praising her God. She had a gift for serving and she served until she became ill.

Marie leaves to cherish her memories her special friend and loving devoted caregiver towards the end of her illness: Willie Awbrey; two brothers: Johnny Ray Harris and Ray Chandler, two sisters: LeAnn Bean and Cerconda Vaughn; her adopted grandchildren, and her adopted parents, Edward and Patricia McCallop, Sr., and their entire family, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends.

Memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2023, at Cooley- Marcom-Harvey Funeral Care Chapel., 9100 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO. Disposition Private.
