Marlene Deloise Duffel, 83, was born December 5, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas to the union of the late Charles Sr. and Sadie Taylor. She was one of six children.

Marlene was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, Kansas and graduated from Sumner High School in 1950. She later attended Alene Jefferson Cosmetology Beauty School.

Marlene was very active in her neighborhood block club, serving as treasurer and attending many outside neighborhood meetings where she was able to facilitate paint, roofing and Christmas in September programs.

Marlene's hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles, and entertaining family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who memory will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her.

Marlene departed this life January 5, 2018 at Rosewood Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando Duffel; brothers, Charles Jr., Andre, Tyrone and Kurt; and a sister, Gloria Jean.

Cherishing her memory are: three daughters, Deborah Steele-Jackson (James "Butch"), Patricia Duffel and Dana Leonard; one sister, Santhelia Young; five grandchildren, Kelly Steele, Erika Hooks (Ryran), Lee Orlando Leonard (April), Christian Leonard and Morgan Duffel; seven great grandchildren, Noah McCaskill, Kenndi Palmer, Jorden Hooks, Alysa Hooks, Kaevon Hooks, Makhale Duffel and Addie Leonard; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Hooks (Solomon) and Delores Duffel (Willard); along with a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
