Marvin Dewayne
Kelly
Aug 7, 1964 — Apr 21, 2017
Marvin Dewayne Kelly, 52, was born August 7, 1964 in Holly Grove, Arkansas to the late Elmer Knowles and Moristeen Bright. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmore Knowles; daughter, LaToya Coakes; brother, Art T. Brown; and sisters, Vera Bright King and Beatrice Bright Cunningham. Marvin, affectionately known as 'Kelly Mac' or 'Kelly', departed this life on Friday, April 21, 2017 at his home he shared with his brother, Ricky in Grandview, Missouri. Ricky and Marvin had a bond that surpassed brothers; they were best friends, the perfect example of 'I am my Brother's Keeper'. Marvin confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was united with First Baptist Church in Holly Grove, Arkansas. Marvin graduated from Holly Grove High School in 1982. He also attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Marvin was a talented athlete and was well known for his athletic abilities. He excelled in both football and basketball, but his passion was basketball. Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Lindora Coakes and to this union three children were born. Marvin believed in taking care of his family and hard work. His children were the love of his life. Marvin was a natural born provider for his family until his health failed. He leaves to cherish his memories: his sons, Demarlon 'Kelly Mac' Coakes of Stuttgart, AR and Marvin Muhammad El Bey of Kansas City, MO; five brothers: Lawrence Bright of Detroit, MI; Ricky Bright of Kansas City, MO; William Pearson Knowles of Chicago, IL; Donald Johnson of Las Vegas, NV and Theodore Johnson of England, AR; seventeen sisters: Stella Berymon of Belton, MO; Selestine Bright Walker of Detroit, MI; Shirley Bright Jackson (Carl) of Kansas City, MO; Dorothy Bright Johnson and Lois Knowles Anderson of North Little Rock, AR; Patricia Bright Brooks (John), Johnice Bright Highsmith (Richard) and Peggy Johnson of Grandview, MO; Joyace Bright Toure, Connie McClinton Jackson and Freda McClinton Bailey of Pine Bluff, AR; Alice 'Marie' Simmons of Holly Grove, AR; Juanita Knowles Isby of Maumelle, AR; Debra Knowles Givan of Conway, AR; Marilyn Johnson of Memphis, TN; Deloris Carter (Don) and Barbara Johnson of Greensboro, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Toriona, Madison, Landon and Na'torey Lin; one brother in law, Henry Coakes; four sisters in law: Hattie Powell, Lillie Coakes, Verlene Sims and Shirley Knox; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Final services by Paradise Funeral Home, Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Services conducted by Duane E.
