Obituary

Marvin Eugene Robinson, 84, was born January 24, 1933 in Independence, Missouri to the late Ollie and Thelma (Hickman) Robinson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Oliver Lee Robinson; two sisters, LaVetta Mae Hines and Juanita Creer; two daughters, Marisa Annette Robinson and Melissa Ann Robinson.

Marvin attended Young School in Independence, Missouri and Lincoln High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Afterwards he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. He loved and proudly wore his Korean Veteran's hat all the time.

Marvin was a member of Second Baptist Church of Independence where he served on the trustee board and as an usher. He was employed by the City of Independence, retiring after thirty-six years in 1995. After retiring, he bought two dump trucks and went into business for himself.

Marvin married Beverly Elizabeth Hickman on April 9, 1955 and to this union three children were born, Marisa Annette, Linda Michelle and Melissa Ann. He enjoyed traveling, having visited at least forty-eight states. Marvin never met a stranger and was loved by everyone. He had a big heart and found pleasure in helping those in need.

Marvin departed this life on January 15, 2018. God saw he was getting tired and called him home to rest.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of sixty-two years, Beverly Robinson; one daughter, Linda Robinson Smith; five grandchildren, Chauntae Robinson, Christina Francois (Marvin), Eric Robinson, Marchelle Robinson and Curtis Beeks (Rosie) and twenty great grandchildren; an aunt, Alberta Marshall; brother-in-law, Leon Allen, Jr. (Diana); sister-in-law, Arlene Buford (Charles); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
