Maurice C. Brown, Sr., 72, passed away on September 13, 2018 at the home. He was born February 21, 1946 to Morris and Dimple (Stewart) Brown in Kansas City, Missouri. Both parents preceded him in death. Maurice was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public Schools as well as St. Emma's Military Academy. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was employed most of his life in the medical field of Kansas City,Missouri, Kansas City, Kansas and Denver, Colorado. He earned the honor of being the number one dialysis technician. Maurice was united in marriage to the former Ms. Lolita Singleton and to this union four children were born. He later united in marriage to the former Ms. Geraldine Heggie and to this union a son was born. The marriage was dissolved. His final marriage was to the former Ms. Joann Irby and together with her two sons they became a blended family. He was a kind, humble and calm person who was always willing to let others take the spotlight. Maurice greatest joy was becoming part of a motorcycle club, riding and participating with them in various events in the city and out of town. He truly cherished his motorcycle brothers and sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Joann Brown; children, Maurice O. Brown, Orlando Brown (Evette), Kimberly Mitchell (Ronald), Lisa Brown, Monique Holliday, Maurice C. Brown, Jr., Jackie E. McConnell and James A. Mack (Stephanie); brother, Tony Peeler (Rosie); sister, Janet Thomas; thirty-one grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services Saturday, September 22, 11:00 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Private disposition. Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
